Many business websites look good but don’t bring in enquiries. Usually it isn’t the design — it’s missing the elements that guide a visitor from “just looking” to “let’s talk”. Here are 13 that make the biggest difference.
First impression
1. A headline that says what you do and for whom. Visitors decide in seconds whether they are in the right place. “Fast WordPress websites for growing service businesses” beats “Welcome to our website”.
2. One clear primary call to action. Decide the main action — call, WhatsApp, book a consultation, request a quote — and make it visible above the fold and repeated down the page.
3. Fast loading on mobile. A slow site loses visitors before they read anything. (See 12 fixes for a slow WordPress site.)
Trust
4. Real testimonials and reviews — with names, companies and specific results.
5. Proof of work. A portfolio, case studies or before-and-after examples.
6. A real person behind the business. A photo and short story on the About page builds more trust than stock images.
7. Clear contact details. Phone, email, location and working hours — easy to find.
Clarity
8. Clear services with outcomes. Describe what the client gets, not just what you do.
9. A simple process. Showing the steps from first call to launch reduces uncertainty.
10. An FAQ section that answers the objections people have before they contact you.
Making contact easy
11. Click-to-chat WhatsApp and click-to-call buttons — especially on mobile, where filling a long form is a pain.
12. Short forms. Ask only what you need. Every extra field reduces submissions.
13. A low-commitment offer for people who aren’t ready yet — a free audit, consultation or checklist — so you can start a conversation.
